Ravel’s deft transcription of Schumann’s Carnaval opens the concert with a kaleidoscope of colours. Maestro Jun Märkl conducts Schumann’s compelling 2nd Symphony – artfully composed to pay homage to Bach and Beethoven while creating new symphonic traditions.
